  1. My heroine is Malala Yousafzai, the young woman who fights for girls education worldwide. Malala is a girl not much different than me, who wanted a basic human right; her education. However, unlike me, Malala didn’t have access to a free and public education. When she dared to stand up for her education, she nearly lost her life. Malala is an inspiration to me because she dared to dream. She never gave up on her aspirations, even though it nearly cost her life. Every day she inspires me to pursue my dreams and never stop trying, no matter the odds.

  2. My heroine is and will always be Selena N. Higgs; my mother. Since the day I was born she along with my father serve in the United States Army. I admire how strong and hard working she is. While serving in the Army for 23 years now, she manages to raise me and three other siblings. Being a military child gave me the opportunity to travel and live in places that many people do not get the chance to. She works hard day in day out to provide for our family and keep our country; the place we call home safe. It takes a brave person to risk the life for their country; any military child like myself knows exactly how it feels to have their parent go away to serve the U.S.A. (United States of America) and wonder and pray that they are safe. For all of these reasons my mother is my heroine.

Who is your hero or heroine in life and why?

The hero in my life is most definitely my grandmother. Ever since I was a child, I have always looked up to her. Her work ethic was something that I have admired. She was a teacher for over 30 years, and although she didn’t have to, she always stayed longer hours than the average teacher did because she wanted to ensure that her students were receiving the best quality of education. Although she worked those long hours and was tired, she still gave her family as much time and attention as she could. She never slacked off when it came to her family despite her environment, and that is how I aspire to be.
